Beaches
The main attractions for visitors in Cartagena are the Carribbean beaches. In the urban area Cartagena has 10 miles of beaches. The most important beaches in no order of preference are Bocagrande, Marbella, Bocachica and Bahia del Castillo Grande.

Isla de Barú
One of the future prospects of tourist development of Cartagena of Indies. You can arrive for earth crossing the Channel of the Dike from Pasacaballos (via Mamonal) or for via aquatic crossing the Bay of Cartagena. Diving can be arranged from Cartagena.
Islas del Rosario
Take a day cruise of this archipelago of 27 small coral islands, now designated as a national park. Diving can be arranged from Cartagena. More at Lonely Planet
Archipielago de San Bernardo
For those who wish to head further towards the south, another type of attraction is offered for travelers and swimmers. The luxurious Hotel Isla Palma by Decameron is here. On another island nearby is a small fishing village that is very densely populated and survives thanks to a cooperative society.
Isla de Tierrabomba
Here find bathing resorts, lodging houses and restaurants on the island facing the Bocagrande district of Cartagena. You may reach them by boats that depart near the Caribbean Hotel.
